About this Website

The Kootenays is a region that sits on the southwest corner of British Columbia. It stretches from Castlegar, Rossland and Nelson in the southwest to Revelstoke in the Northwest to the Rockies to the Alberta border in the east. As a climbing area, it is one of the best in the world, encompassing everything from the world-famous granite spires of the Bugaboos to the soon-to-be famous cragging of Castlegar and Arrow Lakes.

This website, Climbing in the Kootenays, is a partnership of Wonow Media, the publishers of the West Kootenay Rock Guide, and the Kootenay Network. Our mission is to provide the most comprehensive resource of climbing stories, videos and photos about climbing in the Kootenays and to provide an awesome forum for discussion about climbing. This site was created for Kootenay Climbers about Kootenay Climbing. We accept almost any climbing story, photo or video as long as it is either about climbing in the Kootenays or is a trip report from Kootenay climbers on adventures in the world.
