Rosemont Bouldering

Boulder #2 with a sit-down start and traverse problems on it.

Good news Nelsonsites! There’s a new bouldering area in Rosemont. A friend discovered it the other day when she watched some kids walking towards the bike park with a home-made boulder pad. She followed them out of curiosity and came across a few boulders that they had scrubbed and were playing on. The boulders may be small but it’s a perfect area if you can’t get to Grohman and back before dinner.

Here are the directions: Take Vancouver St. to Silverking St. and turn right onto West Beasley Road. Park at the end of West Beasley Road and walk into Art Gibbon Memorial Park. Turn left (east) towards the bike park. Just before reaching the bike stunts, turn right (south) into the trees. From the rolling bridge bike stunt look due south and you’ll see a large boulder. There are no problems on this one but to the right is another boulder with a few sit-down-start problems on it and behind that is another boulder with a sit-down start problem and a traverse on it. All grades are less than V2.

Boulder #1 with 2 sit-down start problems on it.

There are many other boulders in this area and some may offer up more problems with a bit of scrubbing.

If you know of some other urban boulders and crags, reply to this post and I’ll get some pics and maps drawn up.
